Financial Coaching As A Personal Trainer For Your Money

Financial coaching as the behavioral layer that turns a financial plan into actual decisions. For clients who already know what to do but want a partner making sure it gets done.

WHY CLIENTS CHOOSE US

The plan is the easy part. The follow-through is where the work is.

Decisions, not just a document

A financial plan that sits in a binder does nothing. The coaching work is about turning the plan into actual decisions on actual deadlines.

Real accountability check-ins

Scheduled conversations on a defined cadence. The questions are the same every time: what was on your list, what got done, what's in the way, what's next.

Behavioral framing, not lectures

Most money mistakes aren't arithmetic mistakes. They're behavioral. The coaching focuses on the patterns that actually trip people up.

For clients who already have a plan

Coaching pairs with planning. If you haven't built a plan yet, we start there. If you've one and need someone to keep you on it, this is the page.

Long-term, not transactional

We meet on a real cadence, usually quarterly. The plan flexes as your life and the tax code change. Most relationships span decades.

What coaching looks like in practice.

Our team describes the role as a personal trainer for money. The metaphor is closer than it sounds. A personal trainer doesn't lift the weights for you. They show you the form, hold you to the schedule, and tell you when you're slipping. They notice when you're skipping leg day. They adjust the program when life gets hard. They don't pretend you can outsource the work itself.

The same pattern shows up in financial coaching. The client does the actual saving, the actual conversation with a spouse, the actual call to the estate attorney. The coach makes sure those things happen on a real schedule and that the right ones get the priority.

Who this fits.

  • Pre-retirees with a plan in place who keep putting off the Roth conversion decision.
  • High earners who are saving plenty but want a structured review of where it goes.
  • Divorced or widowed clients learning the financial side for the first time and wanting a partner in the process.
  • Business owners who are good at running the business and worse at running their personal finances.
  • Anyone who has read the books, made the spreadsheets, and still doesn't execute.

What this is not.

This isn't a separate hourly engagement detached from the rest of the work. Coaching only makes sense inside an existing planning relationship, because the coaching has to be informed by the actual plan, the actual portfolio, the actual tax situation. We don't offer financial coaching as a standalone service for non-clients.

It's also not life coaching, therapy, or career counseling. We help with the financial side of decisions that have money attached. We refer out for the rest.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Common questions about Financial Coaching

  • Financial planning is the work of building the plan: the cash flow projections, the investment allocation, the tax strategy, the estate documents. Coaching is the work of executing it on a real timeline. Planning answers what. Coaching answers when, who, and did it actually get done.
  • Yes. Coaching only works when it's informed by the actual plan, the actual investment situation, and the actual tax positioning. We don't offer financial coaching as a standalone service detached from a planning relationship.
  • Cadence depends on what's on the list and what's changing. Some clients meet monthly during active transitions (divorce, retirement, business sale). Others move to quarterly once the rhythm is established. We set the cadence to fit the situation, not to fit a billing model.
  • We start there. See the financial planning hub for what that process looks like. Once a plan is in place, coaching becomes the layer on top.
  • No. We work on the financial side of decisions that have money attached. Career coaching, life coaching, and therapy are separate professions, and we refer to those when the work calls for it. The financial part is what we do.
